Loop Heat Pipes assembled on a radiator
EHP manufactures complete thermal control solutions, including subsystems (thermal bus). They can include Heat Pipes (HP) or Loop Heat Pipes (LHP).
LHP are passive capillary pumped systems capable of transporting typical power levels from 2 to 2.000W per LHP, over a long distance, without any moving mechanical parts and against gravity. LHP can be combined in a common architecture to transport any power load.
Thermal bus can also be merged with our deployable products and thus become deployable radiators.
Loop heat pipe working principle
LHP are based on the same principle than heat pipes: the latent heat. They are also passive systems and they present a huge advantage: they permit to transport much more power (some models up to 30 kW) on longer distances with a high integration flexibility and with a global conductance from 2 W/K to 500 W/K. Very high heat flux densities can also be managed on these components.
As heat pipes, they can be made of different materials and use different working fluids regarding the project requirements in terms of power and temperature.
Contrary to heat pipes, the liquid and vapor path use different tubes.
